What are Varicose Veins?

Veins are blood vessels that return the blood from other parts of the body to the heart or lungs. These veins pump the blood towards the heart with the help of valves present within them.  When these valves get loose and are not able to pump the blood to the heart then the blood starts collecting in the veins. This results in enlarged, twisted and discolored veins, which are known as Varicose Veins.
1. Varicose Veins occur most commonly in the legs or thigh region of the legs
2. They can form anywhere in the body part.
3. Colour of the veins changes from green to dark blue.
